OUTREACH: Encore!... means More!

Through the Encore program children discover the joy of movement through stimulating programs that encourage individual expression and creative thinking in a classroom setting.

Encore targets third graders. This uninhibited age group enjoys fast-paced forty-five minute classes including choreography, dance history, music and mime. Providing action-packed experience with hands-on-time in each sessions students explore the tangible examples of costuming, props, scenery,and more.

Teachers and principals have endorsed the Encore Program because it brings the performing arts directly into their classrooms for all to participate. Educators recognize that the basic academic skills are enhanced when students participate in the creative arts.

The Encore Program, piloted in 1989 with CCISD, is now in its 13th year providing enrichment opportunities to six selected CCISD and area schools each year. This valuable program has expanded to include Coastal Bend area public and private schools.

Encore Plus, a one week intensive summer scholarship program in dance, offers classes in Jazz, Tap or Ballet to those students recommended by their teachers. This program helps foster talent and potential of students who would benefit from more in-depth exposure.
